Normandy is very popular among holidaymakers. But it is not only very attractive for leisure, also photographers have so much to experience. In this photo tour we have chosen to explore two areas on the coast, which are both very different from each other. In addition, we place the emphasis during the trip on black and white photography, but it is certainly not limited to it.

The tour starts in the area around the town of Étretat , famous for its white cliffs and natures special light. The most famous rock, Falaise d’Aval, is very photogenic and has always been very popular amongst artists. The famous French impressionist painter Claude Monet, for example, came here very often. Another beautiful photo locaton is Fécamp, a bit more northerly: beside the cliffs we find an interesting lighthouse with many photographic opportunities. We will be staying in Étretat for 3 nights, right in the centre of the best photo locations.

The second area is somewhat further south, to the beaches where the landings of D-Day took place. We will be staying near Gold Beach, where the British army went ashore on June 6, 1944. Here we will be looking for images with human elements in relation to the environment as well: remnants of D-Day (for instance the remains of a temporary harbour), lighthouses and piers. And of course we will visit the beautiful sandy beaches of the battle. Our hotel is located in Arromanches-les-Bains, where we will stay 4 nights.

Both locations are perfect for a black and white approach, but you can also make amazing colour images. We will pay considerable attention to how you can learn to see and think in black and white and how to edit black and white photos. If you wish to focus more on colour photography, then you are of course absolutely to do so, and of course we will happily support you in it.

During the tour we will mainly focus on landscape photography. Landscape Photographer Wilco Dragt accompanies the trip. In the past year he has been in the area several times, in different seasons and under varying conditions. Wilco knows the prime photo locations and will support you when shooting in the field. He will encourage you to find your own photographic view on the landscapes. This personal way of seeing and experiencing will help you to create your own photographic style.
In 2014 Wilco became an ambassador for Lee Filters. The advantage is that he will bring filters and accessories, which can be used by the participants.

The various photo locations are easy to reach. We will only drive short distances and the walks to the locations are short. These short distances make it possible to repeatedly go to the same location to photograph with different conditions. This also ensures a peace of mind, needed to develop your own style and vision.

There is no fixed program during this tour, we are flexible enough to respond to the (weather) conditions. We will decide day by day where to go.
This photo tour is based on using your own private car. Also on site you will use your own means of transportation (car pooling is best of course).
